The Significant Unwritten Blackjack Rules

Before sitting down to play blackjack, check out first the table minimum of the game posted on cards at the blackjack table. It can be very embarrassing on your part if you place your bet and the dealer tells you that it is below the table minimum.

Before you can play the table game of blackjack, you will have to change your money into casino chips. Because blackjack dealers are not allowed to take money from the players, you will just have to put your money on the blackjack table and ask the dealer politely for casino chips. If you want to leave the blackjack table after playing, cash out your casino chips before leaving. Do both of these things during a break in the blackjack game.

Wallets, purses, cellular phones, and other foreign objects are not allowed within the blackjack table premises. For drinks, use the special holders designed for this sole purpose. Be careful in handling your drinks and never ever spill them over the blackjack table.

Before sitting down on an empty chair at the blackjack table, make sure that the chair is really empty. There are instances that a blackjack player is playing multiple hands at the same time. If you are the one who is playing multiple hands in blackjack, you might consider giving up the other hands if the casino is at its busy hours and lots of people want to play blackjack.

Empty chairs at the blackjack table are not to be considered as an arm rest or foot stool. They are there for blackjack players to sit on. If the casino is not crowded at all, you can ask permission if your friend or spouse can sit on it for a moment.

If you want to play blackjack in the middle of a current shoe, ask permission first if it is okay. There are other blackjack players who will refuse adding new players during mid-game because it will screw up their playing strategy. The best time to join a blackjack game is when a new shoe begins.

Become familiar with the hand signals in blackjack because vocal requests are not accepted for security reasons. And when making the hand signals, make sure you must not touch any of the cards or your bets.

In single deck blackjack games, touching the cards is okay but with only one of your hands at a time and not two hands at the same. Keep the cards at the table where the blackjack dealer and the security cameras can see them. If you bust or have a Blackjack, turn over your cards immediately by putting them on the table.
